Popular Woodworking has announced that they will host two (2) Woodworking in America events in 2012. One in Pasadena, CA on October 12-14 and the other in Covington, KY on November 2-4. As hanging out with woodworking friends is the absolute best part of any Woodworking in America conference, we'd like to know which venue do you prefer?
When they first stated there would be two (2) venues in their weekly newletter, there was a twitter discussion that we should poll each other and see which venue was better for everyone.
While we'd encourage everyone to attend the event that works better for them, the more of us that can get together, the better either event will be. Some people, like myself, may even include which is the favored venue in deciding which one to go to ourselves.
Dyami, is the poll supposed to show results after you've submitted a vote? where does it tally?
ReplyDeleteSo my vote is KY but honestly I will go where most of the group want to go as I feel WIA is about comaradire with fellow woodworkers and WIA members as anything else.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Chris... pick a location and let's stick with it.
ReplyDeleteAnd, the later date (November) is a little later in the hurricane season for me... :-)
I'm totally excited to get one out on the west coast finally.
ReplyDeleteIts a few states away, not an entire continent away.
YAY!
I'm with Chris too. Where will the cool kids be?

ReplyDeleteIf I go, I'll be going to Pasadena. It depends on if SAPFM will still have the Hand Tool Olympics there or not. I enjoy working that booth. This year I will definitely need to split the hotel with someone though. Been there, done that, for Cinci.
ReplyDeleteMark,
DeleteNot sure which venue I'll be going to, but you're welcome to split the hotel if you don't mind my late nights.
I voted for KY only because I'll be able to drive there. I second splitting a hotel Mark.
ReplyDeleteI with the cool kids; but on the Pasadena option maybe there will be a Gamble House tour.
ReplyDeleteYou are a cool kid, Kyle.
DeleteWow, I'll second all the sentiments about splitting the cool kids up. It's a bit of drag, but what an you do?
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go to Pasadena, but the drive would likely kill me or result in a long stay in the doghouse for using up all my vacation time. I'd consider flying, but I don't like to confront TSA people with a bag full of sharp metal implements.
Unless Pasadena turns out to be where everyone goes and I can find a way to get there on the cheap, I'll be going to Covington again. It's strange, but I kind of miss the accordion versions of 80's rock tunes...or maybe I miss the beer?
Ian
Ian,
DeleteI'm probably in your boat as far as the drive goes, though there is a slight possibility I'll fly this year.
