Dyami- have you thought about a Rhorkee chair like in Schwarz's Campaigb Furniture book instead of a folding chair?
ReplyDeleteJonathan,
DeleteThanks. I did consider it. However books I've read on chair design over the last year, such as The Chair by Galen Cranz and Rethinking Seating by Peter Opsvik, all recommend against unsupported, hanging (hammock like) seats, such as the Rhorkee. Also, I'm looking to keep the whole thing wood and the Funeral chair folds flatter.
All said, this is probably a case of my having looked far too deeply into chairs to arrive on a simple solution.
Thanks for the suggestion.
