Hopefully you've helped Marc already

I'm embarrassingly late to this post, but for any of you who's shop's wifi was out recently, our good friend and mentor Marc Spagnuolo has been under a DDoS attack recently. As we learned during the Guild chat yesterday, the attack continues.
We're all Modern and we all help.

There are many ways we can help:

First and foremost, join the Guild. Beyond the support it shows Marc, it's a welcoming community of woodworker that you'll be proud to belong to.

Second, and this one's cutting it close, Chris Schwarz and his Lost Art Press are auctioning a copy of "With Hammer in Hand." The auction ends at midnight tonight, so place your bids in the comments of Chris' post and enjoy a classic while supporting our friend.

Finally, learn something cool with a Cyber Class from Andy Chidwick. Andy runs the Chickwick School of Fine Woodworking. I've personally attended one of Andy's lectures and I'll tell you this guy knows his furniture.  To support Marc, Andy is generously donating $20.00 from each Cyber Class fee to help Marc fight the DDoS.

Let's rally round the Wood Whisperer (and any other online woodworking friend attacked in such a manner) and show these DDoS idiots that they've taken on a hole community.

Wear your MWA

Big news. We've finally set up a Modern Woodworker's T-shirt site.

Check it out here: http://www.cafepress.com/modernwoodworkersassociation or at new button on the right of the page bar.

The shirts all feature the Modern Woodworkers Association logo on the front. We've come up with following styles:

  • MWA Logo on the Front, Short Sleeved T-Shirt; $20.99
  • MWA Logo on the Front, MWA QR code on the Back, Short Sleeved T-Shirt; $29.99
  • MWA Logo on the Front, Fitted Women's T-Shirt; $21.99
  • MWA Logo on the Front, Long Sleeved T-Shirt; $24.99
  • MWA Logo on the Top, Fitted Wall Clock; $10.99

Cafepress is a little pricey, but we we've set up our storefront to sell the shirts at cost to keep the price as low as we can. We decided on Cafepress because it was a simple way for us to make shirts available to MWA members and fans without any of us having to front a big order and then handle payment from and shipping to individuals.

We'd ask you to please show your support and make MWA gatherings a sea of Modern T-Shirts.

Every Time a Bell Rings a Woodworker is Born

As a child growing up I always heard stories that every time a bell rings a woodworkers is born.....or something like that anyway.  Well, this week the bells have been ringing off the hook!  Today our very own woodwhisperer Marc Spagnuolo and his with wife Nicole had there new baby boy and for what we hear although early doing well.

As I said the bells have been ringing because we also had news that our Atlanta member Aaron Marshall and his wife also just brought home their new adopted baby this week.  I think I can speak for all of us and say that we wish both couples the best and as they are entering a new phase of there lives.

Not to take away from all of the great news this week but I also wanted to take the time to thank Marc, Shannon, and Matt for the mention of MWA on Wood Talk Online last night.  Thanks for the mention guys we appreciate all of your support.
